WINZ Funeral Grant

For families with limited income and assets, Work and Income (WINZ) provides a grant to help with funeral costs.

Eligibility:

  • Asset & Income tested for the survivor.
  • Estate assets must be below a threshold.
  • Deceased must have been an NZ resident.

ACC Funeral Grant

If the death was the result of an accident, ACC may provide a significant grant to help with funeral and memorial costs.

Current Max Grant$7,491.95

Eligibility:

  • Death was due to a workplace or personal accident.
  • Not asset or income tested.
  • Covers both burial and cremation costs.
